This solved the problem. I wanted to add a firewire disk drive but the single firewire port on my MacBook was already in use. Every bit as easy as adding a USB hub.
The first hub I received turned off my computer when I plugged it in. The second one works fine.
Griffin sells very good products so I bought one. Daisy chain your stuff and let go of you hub fixation. I read good, neutral and bad reviews about this FireWire Hub. This is a bad review, don't waste your money.
You would never even know that it is involved in guiding info to the Mac. Great product for the need. The Belkin FIreWire 6-Port Hub is exactly what I needed to connect all other firewire items to my Mac. Quick, smooth and easy to attach.
I just wish I would have known about it sooner. I use an Apple G5 and Final Cut, this product has helped me get the info I need onto my drives all while hooked into the same drive. I have 3 external Hard Drives and my video camera running through this port and I can say it works perfectly. If you use FireWire a lot, and only use FireWire drives and cameras then this is a must by. I was looking all over for a FireWire splitter and this one does a great job. I am a video editor and need lots of FireWire ports. As my monitor and G5 were running out of FireWire ports this literally saved the day for all my video needs.
